Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5 May Finally Get Rid of The Display Crease

The most recent rumor regarding the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is that the device's hinge will receive a big boost, according to dependable informant Ice Universe.

The information substantiates an earlier report in a related story by the South Korean publication Naver News that Samsung would debut a new waterdrop-style hinge with the Fold 5.

According to the reports, Samsung Display will equip the Fold 5 with a "droplet" folding hinge mechanism that would enable the folding panel to take the shape of a droplet inside the hinge body. By doing this, a crease won't develop between the panel's two sides.

This hinge made its debut on Oppo's first foldable phone at the end of 2021, giving it a first-generation handset with a nearly imperceptible display crease. The most recent Oppo Find N2 Flip also has a nearly undetectable wrinkle.

Also, according to Ice Universe, the Fold5 will only be 13 mm thick when folded, which is a big improvement over the Z Fold 4's 15.8 mm thickness.

Regarding a release date, Samsung's upcoming major Galaxy Unpacked event, which generally occurs in the middle of the year, is when the Galaxy Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5 are anticipated to make their public debuts.
